APSA CONFERENCE 2023
Emerging from Crisis into Complexity

27-30 November, University of Sydney

We are pleased to announce that the 2023 Australian Political Studies (APSA) Conference will be hosted in-person at the University of Sydney from 27-30 November. The Conference will commence with a Postgraduate Workshop* on Monday 27th November, and the main Conference will run from Tuesday 28th to Thursday 30th November.

The theme for this year’s Conference is Emerging from Crisis into Complexity. This acknowledges the multiplicity of complex problems and opportunities that confront our communities, policy institutions and political systems at the local, state and federal level, we continue to adapt to the impacts of COVID-19, climate change, shifts in national and global politics, and an ever-evolving political economy.

We invite colleagues to submit abstracts for research papers and proposals for discussion panels/roundtables on this broad theme, as well as other key issues in politics, public policy, and international relations.

The APSA 2023 Conference forms part of this year’s Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, which will feature over twenty conferences and 2,000 participants at the University of Sydney. APSA 2023 will be an in-person event with some hybrid audience access.

Dates and deadlines:
• Submissions open: Friday 26 May 2023
• Submissions close: Friday 14 July 2023
• Notification of results: Friday 4 August 2023
