This paper analyses the role of women in Australian male supremacist movements, through an analysis of the neo-Nazi group, Australian Motherhood (AM). AM was the women’s auxiliary organisation of the National Socialist Network (NSN), prior to their dissolution in January 2026 to avoid proscription as a designated hate group. Through a multimodal critical discourse analysis of visual and text-based posts from the AM Telegram channel (2024-2026), we examine the role of women as active participants in the development and promotion of anti-feminist and male supremist ideologies. We argue that the AM played a critical and complementary – if subordinate – role in the NSN. First, as sustainers of the movement through care and community work such as homeschooling and the preparation of food for major NSN events. Second, and most significantly, as a key point of ideological motivation for NSN activists as the mothers and carers of white children essential to (re)building a white nation in Australia. We demonstrate how anti-feminist ideologies are visualised and naturalised through the blending of seemingly innocuous apolitical “tradwife” content – such as baking, wellness, parenting, and housework – with more explicit expressions of extremism, male supremacism, antisemitism, conspiracism, and white supremacism. We argue that AM play a unique, yet poorly understood, role in advancing the NSN’s white heteropatriarchal project by normalising gendered hierarchies and making extremism more relatable. This research addresses critical gaps in the literature, with the role of far-right women within Australian neo-Nazi and male supremacist movements largely overlooked to date.
